Out in Numbers & Having a Blast!

Christ Risen Interactive Church prays at Planned Parenthood on Fridays from 3 PM to 5 PM.   This is Pastor Çantana blogging here, and I tell you something great is happening!  I started holding Pro-Life signs about 30 years ago.  The positive honks are way up.  More than that, enduring interest is high.  Due to flu, I and the kids missed last Friday.  However, 20 other people were there!  The black lip-sticked girl mentioned in someone’s previous blog showed me a picture of all the people at church yesterday... She’s now my good friend.  Others are sorry they missed.  We still have weeks to go.  So come on down!

Sunday night Scott preached a sermon “God is Pro-Life, Are You?” to our church.  We had to answer questions at the end.  I’m telling you something great is up.  Standing at that Planned Parenthood is not sad.  It is thrilling.  Tim brings his guitars.  We sing.  People stop.  We talk.  People come back.  Pastor Scott even saved a little runaway dog’s life for an elderly lady and walked her and the dog home.  Later, she came back to stand with the group awhile.

Eleven year old Trezneon, born 18 weeks early, minus one hour, invites passers-by to hold signs.  With his “naturalized dreads” and winning style he’s difficult to ignore and impossible to sway.  We can hardly wait until Friday!

More Positive Experiences

A man who was driving by saw us and pulled into Planned Parenthood's parking lot. He asked if we wanted anything at Casey's.  He took our orders and brought back water, hot cocoa, and coffee.  Ron asked him if he wanted to lead us in prayer which he did.

Another time, two men were walking by, and one asked if we were Pro-Life.  He gave us a thumbs up.

For the most part, it's been very uplifing looking at the people passing by.  We get more thumbs up than we do the finger.  Even a police offficer waved at us.

Interactions with people while maintaining the peaceful, prayerful presence

Last Friday, our group was approached by a young woman wearing black lipstick and asked about our position on abortion.  I gave her my abortion testimony and Scott and the Bouche's shared the story of their adoptive children.  The young lady left after a while and then returned with her husband!

Another person that approached us was a young man who lives close to PPH.  He is very concerned about abortion, but feels uncomfortable about being so visual as we were.  I let him know that he can write to legislature, start a conversation with his friends, but most importantly pray!

The highlight was on Sunday the young woman and her husband were at Christ Risen Interactive Church, which I attend!

A summary of the first week of peaceful prayerful presence

This is a delayed posting, but it covers the first week of our peaceful, prayerful presence outside Planned Parenthood in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

Well, the first week of the Lenten Prayer Vigil has been completed. I am sure those who have joined in have stories to share. I was there last night. We had a good group. We were able to pray a couple rosaries while I was there. At the end a couple came that were Jewish. We closed with a prayer led by them. It was really special.

This week in Cedar Rapids - Peaceful, Prayerful Presence Update

We had another great time for prayer and gathering to witness for life earlier this week.

Although there were some negative comments from passing cars, there were far more positive responses.

At one point two women approached and shared how the younger one's father wanted to abort her. Her mother was strong about it and carried her to term. Her mother has passed away. Her father wanted to abort her brothers also, but her mother carried them to term, too. Then the other one led us in a substantial prayer asking God to show us the fruits of our labor and for an end to abortion. It was really cool.

It was cold, and the wind was blowing. Just before we finished a man came up and gave the five of us still there hot chocolate he bought at Casey's. It was really good. He joined in a prayer with us.

Although cold that day, participants were elated by the positive responses.

May God use our prayer and witness to save lives, and change hearts.

Thanks for participating in this with us.
